Understanding the Calculations & Formulas

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a unified, multi-stage, destination-based tax levied on every value addition in India. Accurate calculation of GST is crucial to maintaining compliant invoicing and pricing configurations.

Calculations Formula:

Base Selling Price = Cost Price + Profit Margin
GST Tax Amount = Base Selling Price × (GST Rate ÷ 100)
Cess Tax Amount = Base Selling Price × (Cess Rate ÷ 100)
Total Invoice Price = Base Selling Price + GST Tax Amount + Cess Tax Amount

Our interactive GST Calculator makes it simple to model various profit percentages and tax slabs (3%, 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%) instantly. This tool prevents calculations mismatch and ensures your product listings are ready for customer billing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is GST calculated on a product?

GST = cost price × GST rate ÷ 100. The final amount is cost price plus GST. For a GST-inclusive price, divide by (1 + rate ÷ 100) to get the base value.

What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?

For sales inside your state the GST splits equally into CGST and SGST. For inter-state sales the full amount is charged as IGST. The total tax is the same either way.

Which GST slab applies to my product?

It depends on the HSN code of your product. Common slabs are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. Easy Khata includes an HSN/SAC directory so the right rate is applied automatically on every invoice.

Can I calculate GST automatically on my bills?

Yes. Easy Khata applies the correct GST slab per product on every invoice and rolls it into your GSTR-1, GSTR-2 and GSTR-3B reports, so you do not calculate it by hand.
