Keep purchase prices on your items
Each product carries a purchase price and a sale price. Profit is measured against the purchase price, so it has to be right.
Record every expense, not just stock
Rent, salaries, transport and utilities go in as expenses under your own categories, otherwise the profit figure only reflects goods.
Read Net Profit on the dashboard
The dashboard shows Total Revenue and Net Profit, with a profit/loss summary chart and an expense breakdown beside them.

The bill-wise profit report shows the margin on each invoice, and party-wise profit shows which customers are worth the effort.
Example
You sell an item for 1,000 that cost you 750. Bill-wise profit shows 250 on that invoice. Once the month’s rent and salaries are entered as expenses, the dashboard Net Profit reflects them too — which is why the two numbers differ.
